Hi there and welcome! You’ve found your Dallas Newborn Photographer and maternity photographer!

I’m so glad that you found my site and I hope you’ll stick around to take a look at my work.

My name is Shilan. I’m a mom of 5 beautiful, crazy little kids and wife to a wonderful and supportive husband.

Much like many other newborn photographers, I started my business when my children were babies. Back in 2013, as a young mom of two, I decided it was important to document their childhood. I wanted to have beautiful pictures of them and not only random snapshot I had taken with my phone. What started as a hobby quickly turned into something much more. I embarked on this journey by educating myself on how a camera works, all the ins and outs of editing softwares and then went on to specialize in newborn and maternity photography.

As a Dallas newborn photographer I have been trained by the industry best. I have taken numerous courses over the years and have a ton of hands on experience with newborns and babies. Safety has and will be my number one priority. With over 10 years in the newborn photography industry, I have extensive knowledge in how to pose a newborn safely and comfortably. This genre has become my passion over the years! I even managed to do my younger two boys’ and daughters newborn sessions a few days after giving them birth- not something I recommend haha 🙂

I also love maternity and family photography and will focus more on the latter in the near future.

When I’m not behind the camera or in front of my laptop editing. I’m busy taking care of my little ones. We love baking together, going to parks, road trips, visiting the library and watching movies while munching on popcorn and sipping hot cocoa. I also love reading and have an unhealthy obsession with my kindle.

During the Great Quarantine of 2020 I realized that I needed to make some changes to my business and the direction going forward. We had just moved to Frisco, TX from San Antonio (and New Jersey prior to that). I had already been in business for over 7 years under my business name ‘Sunshine & Giggles Photography’. And though it was difficult to move on from that and start fresh, I knew I had to be more true to myself and go with my gut. This is how ‘Photos by Shilan’ was born. Re-branding after so many years was dreadful. But I love that the name of my photography business reflects me and who I am. It’s short and straight to the point and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me and my business.
