Back when I first started taking puictures, I was a mom to only 2 kids. I used to participate in a “letters to my children” project with a few other photographers.
Every month we would all write “letters” to our kids on our blogs and include a few pictures we had taken of them through the month. The goal was to document our precious babies, all the silly things they did, their cute little faces and their growth.
It was something I really looked forward to each month. Not only did I get to document my own babies, I also grew so much as a photographer. Pushing myself to take pictures in all type of scenarios. All kinds of lighting. Even when my kids were dressed in mismatched pj’s, crazy hair and all.
I wasn’t able to keep it up since I had my 3rd baby so soon after my 2nd one was born. It actually kind of saddens me that while I get to photograph all these wonderful families and their babies, I haven’t kept up with taking pictures of my own kids.
Today, as a mother of 4, I really appreciate those pictures I did take of my kids. Each and everyone of those, I hold dear. But especially the ones of my daughter getting into my makeup and smearing lipstick all over her face. Or when she wore that ridiculous tutu, her Hello Kitty pink boots and winter coat (and crazy hair of course), twirling around in our backyard. My son playing with the sheer curtains and when he was splashing away in the tub.
I want to start a personal project again, for myself! And what better platform than my own blog? I’ll have the most wonderful time going through these years from now.
This time around, instead of writing to my babies, I’ll just let the pictures speak for themselves.
So here’s my little baby boy. Age 6 months. Enjoying the fall sun.
